Ahobilam Kshetra, situated in the Nallamala forest region of Andhra Pradesh, is one of the most sacred divine pilgrimage places.

Significance of the Name “Ahobilam”

Seeing the fierce form and extraordinary valor of Sri Narasimha Swami, the Devas exclaimed:

“Oh, what valor! Oh, what courage! Oh, what a sacred place! Ahobilam!”

Because of this divine praise, the Kshetra came to be known as “Ahobilam.” It is the supremely sacred place where Sri Mahavishnu manifested from a pillar as the fierce Narasimha to protect the great devotee Prahlada and destroy Hiranyakashipu.
