Masa Shivaratri

Masa Shivaratri is a sacred day observed every month on the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi (14th day of the waning moon), dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. In 2025, the special Masa Shivaratri in Karthika Masam falls on November 18 (Tuesday). This day is considered highly auspicious as Karthika Masam itself is beloved by Lord Shiva.

On this day, devotees perform Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam and participate in the Laksha Deepotsava Puja to seek the combined blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu (Shivakeshava).

Importance of Masa Shivaratri in Karthika Masam

  • Masa Shivaratri is believed to be the night when devotees can easily connect with Lord Shiva’s divine energy through prayer, fasting, and meditation.
  • Observing Shivaratri during Karthika Masam multiplies the spiritual benefits, as this month is sacred for both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
  • Worship on this day:
    • Removes sins and negative karmas
    • Grants peace, prosperity, and good health
    • Strengthens family harmony and spiritual growth
    • Attracts Shiva–Vishnu blessings (Shivakeshava Anugraham)
